Emergency Vehicle Preemption

Description

Junction City current uses a sound–based emergency vehicle preemption (EVP) system. This project will replace the sound–based system with a light–based EVP system. EVP equipment will be installed at Junction City traffic signals that receives request from emergency vehicles approaching the intersections for signal preemption and provides a green light for the approaching phase of the emergency vehicle. Corresponding equipment will be installed on emergency vehicles (police vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, etc.) to enable the preemption of the signal timing.
